Senator Gordon Smith, R. Oregon, has come out in opposition to U.S. involvment in Iraq. Not that surprising, in that many politicians are jumping on this bandwagon (It took them awhile, but I guess they finally get it, that and polls and recent election results force their hand). What IS refreshing is he actually uses logic and reasoning:
"You know, this is a fight, when you get right down to the root of it, between Sunnis and Shias that goes back a millennia of time over who is the rightful successor to the Prophet Mohammed," Smith told Wolf Blitzer in an interview set to air on "The Situation Room." "That is not our fault. That is not our fight, and that's not something we can fix."

There have been few, Democrats, Republicans, or Talking Heads that have framed it so clearly.
